
All about him is the magnificence of nature; far below, surging against the rugged scarps and broken undercliff, is the limitless sea, dotted with craft; his path is amid long grasses, heather, and wild-flowers; and the air is filled with the song of the lark, the cawing of crows, and the humming of many bees. As he passes the deep cove of Blue Wyke, where, far beneath, the sea dashes upon a rocky spur, he must be cautious and sure-footed.
