The XCL was a cheerleading league associated with the XGL. Each franchised team had a cheerleading squad that supported its team before and during matches, and competed in a parallel tournament in which marks were awarded by a panel of judges. The league became renowned for its racier-than-average dress and routines. An associated reality series, XCL Cheerleaders, which followed the teams through the 1999 season, earned F!TV’s highest ever ratings.
