The XGL was a revamped version of the ancient Fryup sport of gutball. Featuring fewer rules that allowed for more physical contact, the modern form was conceived as part of a package with broadcaster F!TV, which beamed every match live. The XGL comprised six franchised teams: Pistoldale Pistols, Pikedale Pikes, Helldale Hellcats, Heavenside Angels, Wolfdale Wolves, and Hazard Dale Dukes. The XGL ran for four seasons before abruptly filing for bankruptcy in 1999.
