The 1985 Bears were America. They were the team that America wanted, needed, and embraced at the time and for years afterward and to this day. They were a collection of characters that reflected nothing less than the best — and worst — of a nation, a people, an era. They were, for a brief, magical instant, a band of eccentrics and athletes who went from nobodies to rock stars, from country kids and city kids to cult figures, who took America on a wonderful, wild ride like nothing before or since.
