The Knaggs of Gripperdale are champion Blackface breeders whose ageing patriarch, Alonzo, runs their remote moorland farm with an iron fist. His three daughters, Sammy, Tammy and Nikki – whom he sired well into his seventies – parade off with the prizes during local show season, and it’s not just the sheep that earn admiring glances. Rumours swirl – because rumours always swirl in Fryup – that the Knaggs Girls know full well how to revel in their rare days of freedom, once the rosettes have been awarded and the sun begins to set behind their far-off farm.
