Fryup High School suffered the indignity of posting the lowest ever score in an episode of the BBC’s school sports show We Are The Champions in 1986. Competing against two other local schools at the Fryup Showgrounds, the Fryup team finished last in every event, and were accused by producers of a range of offences including violence, intimidation and stealing thousands of pounds-worth of camera equipment. The episode in question was never aired.
