Active in over 40 countries, the ALF is structured around clandestine cells, similar in organisation to resistance forces, spies, or mercenaries. This covert structure has made it extremely difficult for authorities to monitor or stop their activities. The group’s methods have been widely criticised, and many authorities have labelled them eco-terrorists.
