FIGHTS IV

These wrestlings were something like amusements, and what a physique they built!  What an alert mentality they made!  Your leading spirit would step behind the hedge of a summer’s evening or into a barn in the winter-time and wait for the lads.  He would sit down and take all their hats and put them behind his back.  He would then impartially pair the hats and throw each pair out in front of him.  Their owners were thus mated for the first heats.
