Woodsmoke Sibby was a racing greyhound who won a world record 30 straight races at the Fryup Showgrounds track between 1984 and 1986, including three consecutive Fryup Derbies. Amongst her vanquished opponents were all-time greats Ballyregan Bob and Scurlogue Champ. Sibby’s owner, Dickie Sprule, claimed to have acquired the dog from gypsies, who promised him untold success provided he only raced her in Fryup. Finally unable to resist the temptation to enter her for the lucrative Greyhound Derby at Wimbledon in 1987, Sibby disappeared from her kennel during transit, and was never seen again.
