In 1997 she accepted an offer of £100,000 to burst out of a birthday cake for the brother of the Sultan of Brunei.  During her one-month stay in the country, she claimed to have been held hostage in a harem.

In 1998, she incurred the wrath of the Animal Liberation Front when she wore a baby seal bikini to the American premiere of ‘Sweet Tooth’ in Seattle.  Two days later, at a show in Portland, she was splashed with fish guts by protesters.

In 2002, she announced her intention to adopt two children from Chad.  Her subsequent, high-profile trip to the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, incurred the wrath of the authorities and she was briefly detained in the notorious Koro Toro high security prison before being deported.
