The Girls of Goosegang Lane is a novel by the prolific Fryup author Ingrid Sprule. The plot centres on a semi-feral band of girls – Suzy, Sam, Debee and Tara – who contrive scandalous schemes to fend off their rivals, the notorious Garth End Girls, and win over a local boy, Chequers, who is the object of Suzy’s affections. The Girls of Goosegang Lane was largely ignored until its re-release in 2002; whereupon it was derided as “misanthropic smut” by The Daily Telegraph.
