FREEDOM

The Fryup Freedom Party (FFP) is a regionalist political party that advocates independence for the Fryup region.  Its policies include the re-habitation of the Fryup Islands, and compulsory teaching of the Fryoese language up to the age of sixteen.  The Fryup Freedom Party won its first and only parliamentary seat in the Fryup and Roxby constituency in 1997, when Hilda Sprule overturned the 22,000 majority of long-time Conservative incumbent Peregrine Thorsby.  However, Sprule did not take up her place in parliament, as she refused to swear an oath to the Queen.
