The picturesque ruins of Roxby castle belie such a gruesome history, of murder, rape, incest, infanticide, adultery, torture, treachery, treason, extortion, betrayal, abduction, arson, gluttony, burglary, buggery, sodomy, blackmail, perjury, perversion, battery, roguery, piracy, heresy, larceny, ursury and witchcraft, it is a wonder there are any stones still standing at all.
