COLD BLOW

Cold Blow was a notorious detention facility housing some of the country’s most violent young female prisoners in the midst of the bleak Fryup moors.  Regularly exposed in the media for its Victorian-era facilities and sadistic staff, Cold Blow hit the headlines again in 1996 when three inmates led by Ingrid Sprule staged the first and only successful escape by hijacking a food delivery truck during a pre-planned riot.  Two of the escapees were apprehended within forty-eight hours but Sprule has never been found.  The incident inspired the 1999 Purple Wave movie Escape From Cold Blow.  Cold Blow was permanently closed the following year.
