Lacy-Wayne Siskin started out riding sheep on the family farm in Fryup at the age of six. Waylon, her rodeo-fan father, soon had her graduating to unbroken colts, before marking her tenth birthday by sitting her on Buck, their 1,500lb Friesian bull, for the first time. “I had him on a short leash but no sooner had Lacy-Wayne perched her tiny behind on his back than he had snapped free and was off, high-kicking and whaling it across the yard,” said Waylon. “She clung on for a good few seconds till he flipped her so high I figured on her coming back down with snow in her hair.” Lacy-Wayne had the good fortune to career head-first into a nearby haystack, from which she emerged beaming and unscathed, but for a black eye and a few bruised ribs. “That’s when I knew she had what it took,’ continued Waylon, who has sold off his stock and is preparing to head off to the US next season in the hope of winning her a place on the PBR Mini Bull-Riders’ Tour.
