THE NORTH RIDING PROJECT

The Moskito men are tall, well made, raw-boned, lusty, strong, and nimble of foot, long-visaged, lank black hair, stern of look, hard-favoured, and of a dark, copper-coloured complexion.  They are very ingenious at throwing the lance, fizzgog, harpoon, or any manner of dart, being bred to it from their infancy.  They have extraordinarily good eyes, and will descry a sail at sea farther, and see anything better than we.  They fear the devil, and they say he often appears to some among them.  Within land there are other Indians, with whom they are always at war.
