THE NORTH RIDING PROJECT

NKC, short for “No Knickers Club”, was a feminist-anarchist group that originated at Fryup High School in the late 1980s. Inspired by Valerie Solanas’ “SCUM Manifesto”, its members espoused the eradication of men, and performed a series of stunts aimed at humiliating those suspected of what they called “the perpetuation of the patriarchy”. Initial tactics included honey-traps and the disruption of school events using fire extinguishers and stink-bombs; they swiftly evolved into incidents of kidnap, arson, and ultimately murder.
