The 17-year-old Trusova landed four quads in her free skate, an athletic performance to Cruella and The Stooges’s “I Wanna Be Your Dog”, but it was not enough to take gold over her compatriot Shcherbakova, also 17. “Everyone has a gold medal, everyone, but not me,” cried Trusova at rink-side when her scores were announced.  “I hate skating.  I hate it.  I hate this sport.  I will never skate again.  Never.”  Three days after vowing she would never set another foot on the ice, she returned with a high-octane routine at the post-Games Gala, dressed as Wonder Woman.
