Calling themselves ‘The Birds’, the two women would drink beer and make trinkets to sell, such as mobiles of Sarah’s self-portrait, badges, ash trays with a photo of Damien’s face on the bottom, mugs and T-shirts bearing slogans like ‘Have You Wanked Over Me Yet’ (Tracey’s) and ‘Complete Arsehole’ (Sarah’s).  “Sarah was just really refreshing,” says Tracey.  “Everybody at that time was wanting to be like Jeff Koons, they wanted to use a lot of Perspex and polish, and Sarah was using glue and photos and cutting them out and that was much more my kind of thing.”
