THE NORTH RIDING PROJECT

Fryup Championship Wrestling (FCW) was a wrestling promotion and media company based in Fryup, North Yorkshire.  Its roster included high-flying local favourite and three-time champion Clint Lightnin’, 6ft 8ins Ivan The Terrible (who often teamed in tag contests with 4ft 10ins Midget Gem), undefeated women’s tag-team champions The Camo Girls, and 32-stone Ken Tucky, a southern American hick who waded to the ring tossing pieces of fried chicken into the crowd from a family-sized bucket.  In August 2000, FCW staged the ‘Kandy Klash’ between reigning women’s champion Honey Coombs and former adult movie star Kola Kubes at the Fryup Showgrounds in a match broadcast live on the XVN pay-per-view network.  The two combatants wore lingerie and brawled in pools of whipped cream, jell-O and hundreds-and-thousands that had been placed around ringside.  In a scripted finale, Kubes was awarded victory when The Camo Girls entered the arena and performed their trademark ‘AK’ move on Coombs whilst Kubes distracted the referee by performing a striptease.
